Calvin Farris grew up in San Diego and around the world as part of a Navy family, an upbringing that gave him adaptability, resilience, and a deep appreciation for people and place. A multi-sport athlete in high school, he went on to play Division I baseball at Brown University, where he was a four-year starter. Summers spent playing ball in Alaska not only honed his competitive spirit but also sparked a lifelong passion for the outdoors and introduced him to fly fishing in some of the most rugged country in North America. Today, Calvin carries that same love of wild spaces into his life as an avid surfer, fisherman, and rock climber.
After graduating from Brown with a degree in Entrepreneurship, Calvin returned to California and began his career in real estate. He currently works as an appraiser with The Doré Group, where he specializes in complex project development and valuation of rural land, ranches, agricultural holdings, and unique residential properties across the state. His appraisal work gives him an in-depth understanding of market dynamics, pricing, and land use, as well as the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders, including title officers, lenders, brokers, buyers, and sellers.
In addition to his appraisal work, Calvin also gained valuable transactional experience as an Associate Real Estate Agent with Redfin. There, he supported clients and led agents through showings, open houses, and negotiations, while sharpening his skills in client communication, marketing, and the use of advanced real estate tools and platforms. This unique combination of ongoing appraisal expertise and hands-on sales experience enables Calvin to guide clients with both precision and practicality.
